Our Honest COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Review: Worth the Hype?

I'm reviewing the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence by COSRX and honestly this has been a favorite by a lot of people. We keep seeing it everywhere so we just had to try it ourselves. Before we got started we were a bit skeptical because it just had such great reviews. This COSRX snail review really shows why it's so hyped.

Key ingredients and claims

It contains 96% snail secretion filtrate. It actually means that it helps the skin to keep the moisture in while keeping the skin smooth and healthy. Snail secretion for skin is packed with goodies that make it special.

In a 100ml bottle which is pretty big actually. It claims that it helps with dull skin and fine lines.

Some of the other ingredients included besides the 96% snail secretion filtrate: the cosrx snail mucin has hyaluronic acid, betaine which is for long lasting hydration, and it has allantoin and panthenol. These are supposed to smooth the appearance of any irritated or red skin.

Why snail mucin is so popular

I suppose why this got so popular is because of the ingredient of snail mucin which is supposed to soothe irritation and resurface new skin and also gently exfoliate off the old skin. So it both smooths the surface and exfoliates all in one.

The reason why snail mucin is super popular is because of its property of collagen and elastin that is supposed to repair the skin and improve firmness. It's also got that property of glycolic acid and glycolic acid is said to smoothen the texture out of your skin, prevent any acne and can gently exfoliate as well.

It also has allantoin which is also for blemishes, redness, irritation, breakouts.

Is snail mucin comedogenic

Is snail mucin comedogenic? Snail mucin is generally considered non-comedogenic and is unlikely to clog pores, making it suitable for most skin types, including acne-prone skin. Its lightweight, gel-like texture provides deep hydration and contains beneficial ingredients like glycolic acid and allantoin, which can help heal acne scars.

Does snail mucin help with redness

Yes, does snail mucin help with redness? It does a great job at calming and soothing. The allantoin and anti-inflammatory properties in snail secretion for skin help reduce redness and irritation, making it really gentle for sensitive or inflamed skin. We've noticed it helps calm things down, especially after using other products.

Can I use COSRX snail mucin with retinol

Can I use COSRX snail mucin with retinol? Absolutely, yes. Many people layer them together successfully. The Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is hydrating and soothing, so it can actually help buffer some of the dryness or irritation that retinol can cause. Apply the snail mucin first (after cleansing and toning), let it absorb, then follow with your retinol. It works well in routines with actives like this.

Snail mucin vs hyaluronic acid

This product contains hyaluronic acid in it, it's listed on the ingreditens, as well as the snail secretion, so in terms of comparisons to hyaluronic acid itself, you're basically getting 3 products in one with the COSRX Advanced 96 snail mucin so it's a win-win.

When should I use snail mucin in my routine - skincare routine with snail mucin

When should I use snail mucin in my routine? It fits perfectly after cleansing and toning, before heavier serums, moisturizers, or other products. Use it both morning and night for the best hydration and repair benefits. It's lightweight so it layers nicely without feeling heavy.

How to use it

In terms of how to get started with it and where to use it, it can actually be used day or night so we use this as part of our day and night routine. It's honestly so simple to use.

Step one: put it on day or night. Step two: after you're cleansing and toning you can apply it to your face with a couple of pumps. Step three: pat it into your skin to help with absorption. Step four: follow up with any other skincare routine products or you can pop on your favorite moisturizer.

Texture and feel on the skin

Down to how great it is or not and honestly it has such an amazing luxurious feel on the skin. It just leaves it feeling really hydrated and refreshed.

It's so worth it for the bottle size honestly it's such a huge size and we've been using this day and night and it's still got loads left in it.

I think that's the snail mucin that turned people away but really it doesn't have a scent at all. Even for sensitive skin it's just so gentle and you can leave it for a couple of minutes and it will really nicely absorb into the skin.

The actual consistency when you do a pump is like a gel but a watery gel and it's quite not sticky but elastic. And it has a cooling effect as you put on your skin and honestly the skin just drinks it up.

It's a really great one to use before makeup because it's just such a thin layer and it almost gives your skin a natural glow when you've got the makeup on obviously after you wait two to three minutes for it to soak in then you can apply your foundation.

Two pumps actually is enough to cover your face and maybe another pump for your décolletage. It doesn't sit on the skin it really just absorbs easily.

Results and overall thoughts

In terms of reducing fine lines and wrinkles I think it needs to be used for a super long time to get that effect but honestly we can see the early results and we like how it feels and looks like asking when you've got makeup on. So give it a go.

In terms of the claims I think it does leave your skin hydrated and you know over time it does make it look really smooth and plump so for the price definitely worth giving it a go.

It's not greasy at all and you can even use it before putting on your sun cream in the day.

If you can honestly get past the idea of the snail thing I would definitely recommend trying it. It's such good value for money it's such a big bottle that lasts. The Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence truly lives up to the hype in so many ways.
