So today I am going to be reviewing the Gillette foam that came out with a sensitive, refreshing version in 2026, and also the Gillette Fusion razor together. I have really been excited to do this with the new foam that just came out, and I even have some before-and-after pictures to share with you all. We hope you enjoy the Gillette razor and shaving foam review.

What is it designed to do?

So the Gillette razor has 5 blades, which are closely spaced together to help reduce pressure on your skin while you shave. It also features a precision trimmer on the back of the cartridge, which is designed for those tricky spots like under your nose or around your sideburns.

On top of that, there is a lubrication strip at the top of the blade set, and that is meant to make it give you a smooth glide across your face. In terms of the Gillette shaving foam, this new version says it was designed to protect against 5 of the common shaving irritations, such as nicks, cuts, burns, stinging, redness, and tightness.

The product claims that the foam hydrates the hair and lubricates it to help protect your skin barrier while you shave, and then cools it to soothe it down afterwards.

What skin concerns does it target?

This routine primarily targets sensitive skin that is prone to razor burn, irritation, and dryness. If you suffer from frequent redness or tightness after using a blade, this foam and razor combo aims to alleviate those specific issues by providing heavy lubrication and a cooling effect.

Many of us struggle with dry skin that gets easily flaky or micro-torn during grooming sessions, so the formulation is heavily geared towards protecting a compromised skin barrier. Throughout this Gillette shaving foam review, we will look closely at how it deals with these common issues during a live test.

Did it cause any irritation or adverse reactions

Well, with the Gillette shaving foam review, when I put it on my skin, there was actually a slight tingling sensation on me. When it first happened, I thought, oh no, is my skin about to react poorly to this?

But I think that must have been the menthol part of the formulation making itself known. That tingling sensation eventually went away after probably about 30 seconds, leaving a cool feeling instead.

Gillette razor and shaving foam review of main ingredients

Understanding the ingredient profile is a massive part of my review process. Let us look at what is inside this new 2026 refreshing sensitive foam formulation.

Water

This acts as the primary liquid base for the entire product, ensuring that the soap elements can dissolve and form a spreadable medium. It helps to keep the hair hydrated during the preparation phase.

Triethanolamine

This ingredient is an emulsifying agent and a surfactant. It helps to blend the water and oil-based components together smoothly while balancing the pH of the shaving foam so it is not too harsh on your skin barrier.

Palmitic acid

A natural fatty acid that acts as an excellent emollient. It works to soften the skin and add a protective layer of lubrication, which is essential when a sharp blade is moving across your face.

Stearic acid

Crucial fatty acid that helps to thicken the foam. It creates that rich, dense lather that cushions the razor blades, making the Gillette fusion razor review process much safer for sensitive areas.

Laureth-23

This component is a high-quality surfactant that allows the product to rinse off cleanly with water after you are finished shaving.

Butane and isobutane

These are propellants that help expel the product from the canister. They are responsible for instantly turning the liquid formula into a rich, fluffy foam.

Sodium lauryl sulfate

A well-known cleansing agent that helps create a stable, foamy lather. It ensures the product spreads evenly and assists in washing away oil and cut hairs from the skin surface.

Fragrance

Added to provide that clean, refreshing aroma during your grooming routine.

Propane

Another safe aerosol propellant used in combination with butane to maintain consistent pressure inside the canister. This ensures you get a good lather from the first spray to the last drop.

Menthol

This is the key ingredient responsible for that cooling, refreshing sensation. It helps to soothe the skin down and minimize the perception of stinging or heat during and after your shave.

What does it feel like?

In terms of the feel of the Gillette shaving foam review, it expanded quite well in my hands and felt very smooth on the skin. I wanted to note earlier that this Gillette razor and shaving foam review was done entirely in the shower, just so you have that perspective.

Shaving in a warm, steamy environment changes how products interact with your skin compared to shaving over a dry sink. In terms of the razor feeling, the lubrication strip definitely helped a lot.

Because of that extra glide, I did not feel like there were any nicks as it was going along, and it felt very smooth as I was gliding around my chin. However, in my Gillette Fusion review when it got to the neck, it was a little bit more difficult because obviously you are going around different edges and contours.

Feel rating out of 10

In terms of the feel rating, I will probably give it a 9 out of 10.

One thing to note, when I first tested this for the Gillette fusion razor review, it glided very easily because of that fresh lubrication strip. However, you need to know that the lubrication strip does go away quite soon after a few uses.

Because it fades fast, I tend to replace them at least once every month to keep that smooth feeling alive. Also, the blades get a little bit weaker over time, so that pristine 9 out of 10 feeling drops if you try to stretch the cartridge life out too far.

What does it smell like?

In terms of the fragrance of the Gillette foam, this one smelled very fresh and clean. You can easily tell there is not that many complex ingredients or heavy perfumes packed inside, so that is quite good for anyone trying to avoid an overwhelmed olfactory system.

You can definitely smell that bit of menthol in there, which matches the cooling sensation it gives your face.

How easy is it to apply?

In terms of how easy it is to apply, when I was in the shower for my shaving foam review, I was honestly expecting it to spread a little bit easier across my wet skin. It did get a little bit clumpy at first, so I did have to work it into my palms and manually mold it to my face to get an even layer.

But from there, the good news is that it kind of sticks to your face in terms of the foam density, which is pretty good. It does not drip down into your eyes or wash away instantly under the spray, meaning you can comfortably clear your hands and then start razoring without rushing.

How did my skin feel afterwards

In terms of how my skin felt afterwards, I actually took a before and after photo of my neckline for my Gillette razor and shaving foam review. Looking closely at the results, you could see there were a few minor nicks, and it was a little bit red afterwards on the neck area.

The razor did not get all the crevices perfectly in terms of the hair removal, mostly because the neck has so many changing angles. But despite that slight redness, my face still felt nice afterwards.

It did not feel like it was stinging or burning intensely after the water hit it. So, I think that really helps having the menthol on the Gillette foam to calm things down.

Because there are more blades, it glides better as you are shaving and reduces the chance of nasty nicks. Trying to shave with anything like 3 blades? That is like a worst-case scenario for me.

Maybe if I forgot my normal razor at home while travelling, I would resort to a 3-blade disposable, but it does not compare to the smooth face feel you get here.

Is the packaging practical

In terms of the actual packaging of the item and how it is made, it features an ergonomic handle on the razor. The handle is quite heavy, which is genuinely good because you do not want your razor to be too lightweight or flimsy when navigating around your jaw.

It has little integrated rubber grooves so you can securely put your fingers where they need to be as you are moving around in a wet shower environment. What I also like is that you can simply squeeze at the top of the handle, and it pops off the old razor head cleanly when you need to replace it, and then you can pop a fresh one right back in. It is incredibly easy to use.

In terms of the packaging for the Gillette shaving foam review, the bottom of the metal canister is very soft and coated. This means I was not really damaging or scratching my delicate surfaces in the bathroom cabinet, which I quite like.

The trigger and nozzle area was very easy to press down without requiring massive pressure, and the overall plastic material feels quite solid and durable. It holds up well even if it accidentally slips out of your hands onto the shower floor.

Gillette razor and shaving foam review of the dispensing

Does it dispense the product easily? Well, at first when I squeezed it a little bit, it was only coming out with a light, watery bit of foam instead of a thick cream.

What I realized after messing around with it is that if you give the can a good shake first, but actually keep holding down the nozzle firmly, it then becomes a full, rich foam. I have got a picture of that ideal texture displayed below for my Gillette razor and shaving foam review.

So, I would say that it does dispense quite easily once you know the trick, but you have to hold it down continuously for a few seconds to get the proper consistency. That made me wonder, am I wasting foam at the start of the press?

How many uses do you get per package?

The mileage you get out of these products depends heavily on your hair type and shaving frequency. The foam canister is quite dense and should easily last you a few months of regular use, provided you shake it well to avoid wasting liquid at the beginning of the spray.

For the razor cartridges, as I noted in this Gillette fusion review, I tend to use one cartridge each month. If you shave every single day, you will notice the performance drops toward the end of those four weeks.

If you want to keep the glide completely smooth, budgeting for more frequent cartridge swaps will keep your skin looking fresh without dealing with dull blades pulling at your stubble.

Does the performance justify the cost? Would you repurchase it?

So, does the performance justify the cost? Well, this Gillette foam is quite new to the market for 2026. Was it full price when I got it?

Yes, but you can see from my links below that sometimes these items are on sale at major retailers. I think when they are on sale, the price is definitely worth it for the quality of the lather you receive.

In terms of the Gillette Fusion razor review of price, you initially buy the whole set which includes the specialized handle and a starting pack of razors. After that initial investment, you can buy bulk packs of refill blades going forward to save some money.

There are 8-packs and 16-packs that I have personally bought over the years to keep my costs down. I tend to use one blade each month, so I think it is quite worth it there.

Obviously, the blades get a little bit dull over the month, so if you can afford it, I would recommend using 2 blades a month instead. Using two blades helps you completely avoid getting nicks and ensures you always have that fresh lubrication strip active.

If you are hunting for deals during events like the best of beauty amazon prime big deal days, stocking up on these bulk refill packs is the smartest way to manage your grooming budget. I would definitely repurchase both, especially when sales are running.

Storage:

In terms of the actual storage of it, I store my shaving foam canister safely in the bathroom cabinet. Now, as I use it frequently in the shower, my other shaving foams in the past have developed a little bit of ugly rust around the metal base due to the constant moisture.

To prevent this, I actually dry my shaving foam canister with a towel after my shower to avoid getting rust on my shelves. That is also the exact same routine I use for my Gillette fusion razor.

Make sure you shake out the excess water and dry the blades after using it so you do not get any rust or dullness building up early.

What to put on after

After you finish rinsing off the remnants of your foam, your skin needs immediate hydration to recover from the blade contact. I highly recommend applying a soothing, lightweight serum or cream.

Products that utilize the benefits of hyaluronic acid for the face are incredible here because they draw moisture back into the freshly exfoliated skin layers without causing any burning. Follow that up with a gentle, non-comedogenic lotion to lock in that hydration.

This ensures you can hydrate your skin overnight and wake up without any trace of lingering tightness or razor rash.

Overall rating out of 10

The overall rating out of 10 for my Gillette razor and shaving foam review for both items put together would have to be an 8 out of 10. They work excellently as a team, but there are a few minor drawbacks.

Like I mentioned, the foam had a bit of an intense tingling sensation at the start which might startle very sensitive users, and the razors tend to need to be used up and replaced at least once a month. The lubrication strip does go away quite quickly on the Gillette fusion 5 razor, meaning you lose that perfect factory glide rather fast.

I hope you all thoroughly enjoyed my Gillette razor and shaving foam review. If you have used these two products yourself, especially this year in 2026, please drop a comment in the box below so I can see your thoughts and share more value with my readers!

Gillette razor and shaving foam review FAQ's

Are Gillette fusion razors good?

Absolutely. I have been using Gillette for many, many years now and the design is incredibly reliable. The blades are sharp, the handle has an excellent weight, and I would say you can comfortably use them once a month before needing a swap.

I wouldn't use the blade past that point though. I highly recommend you replace the blade after a month because it gets a little bit weak and dull, and you do not want to risk getting any nasty nicks on your face.

Is Gillette fusion 5 good for sensitive skin

Yes, it is really good for sensitive skin types. Because it features 5 individual blades spaced closely together, it distributes the weight and pressure of your hand evenly as you are going along your face.

This pressure distribution drastically reduces the chance of getting nicks or cuts which is great for the Gillette Fusion razor review. Plus, it has that integrated lubrication strip at the top which keeps lubricating your face during the stroke to avoid friction burns.

Is Gillette shave foam good?

For my Gillette shaving foam review, I think the foam was very good overall. It smelled nice and fresh as well, which makes the whole shower experience feel much more luxurious.

It did have that slight tingling sensation when I first put it on my skin due to the menthol. However, it definitely helps your skin immensely instead of trying to attempt a dangerous dry shave. It keeps the hair upright and lubricated throughout the process.
