Today we want to review the Schick Hydro Silk Trim Style Total Bikini. It’s a trimmer and razor for easy bikini maintenance.
This one comes in new packaging so if you bought the old one, the new packaging looks slightly different. Ours has a shiny part to it.
You only get one blade in it so don’t get confused, as on the packaging it states 5 blades. It means five smaller blades on the one cartridge. But then you get the bikini trimmer on the other end which is the battery operated part and that's what we're here for - the star of the show. That is really the part you are buying this razor for.
Schick Hydro Silk says that it is designed to give you more control over shaving in this delicate area. The shaving side provides a moisturising effect with their trademarked Hydro Boost serum which hydrates and protects the skin from irritation. The serum has aloe leaf juice in it, parkii butter (natural, organic ingredient from Shea) and Cocos Nucifera Oil (also known as coconut oil).
It has an adjustable comb with trim lengths for a customised look and feel if you want your bush to be longer or shorter. It is fully waterproof so some people even use this out of the shower for a quick top up.
You can buy refillable razor cartridges to put on the end as well. It comes with one razor cartridge and one battery which is great.
We are on our second time purchasing one of these and the reason for purchasing it again wasn’t even because the battery died. It was because the actual bikini trimmer part was just going rusty so we wanted to refresh it. For the price it is such a great investment.
It just lasts so long and the fact that you can replace the razor cartridges as well means you can use this to shave your legs at other times.
In saying that, this is normally a skincare product that is part of a nighttime routine but it can be used at any time, especially when travelling.
In terms of how to get started with it, it is super simple.
Use the trimmer end for maintaining length and the razor end for closer shaving. It is fully waterproof so you can use it in or out of the shower.
The narrow thin end makes it easy to move around the bikini area without snagging.
The trimmer lid comes up easily so you can clean out any hair that gets stuck inside or just knock it on the side of the sink.
This will last you years, the trimer side at least if you take care of it, even 2-3 years. Something that you can use for a long time for a product that is not super expensive but mid range, it saves money in the long run.
What is super great as a razor for travel and bikini militance on the go or beach holidays. So you don’t have to bring other tools like maybe waxing or laser on holidays.
It's also good for those times when you get caught out, and haven't done your maintenance down there, this does the trick fast and doesn't give you any cuts especially from the trimmer. And you don't have to look like a bald eagle down there!
You can use the shave side on your legs, underarms, bikini whatever and then use the trimmer for upside down areas. It doesn’t snag because it has a really narrow thin end which makes it easy to move around the bikini area.
I think people think it is kinda scary putting something electronic down there (that is not a toy 😆) but this never hurts. It gives you slightly more than a buzz cut. It also means less bumps, ingrown hairs and pimples.
Great for ladies (and men) who don’t want to go completely bald but don’t like to go au natural either. So this has been a game changer for me.
All in all we really like the Schick Hydro Silk Trim Style Total Bikini. It is easy to use, easy to clean and does exactly what it promises. We will definitely keep repurchasing it whenever we need a new one.
For the price and how long it lasts it is such good value. If you are looking for something simple and effective for bikini maintenance this is worth trying.
