Miracle Toner - We find out if it is
We're here to talk about the AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner, this one by Some By Mi.
If you don't already know, AHA, BHA and PHA work as effective exfoliators, leaving the skin cleaner and more radiant than before. It's a chemical exfoliant. This one is non-comedogenic, it's got skin-loving ingredients with a dual function and a low pH.
What the AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner claims to do
It claims to:
- Reduce the pore size and clean them out
- Brighten the skin
- Moisturise the skin while it exfoliates
It's been around for a while and it's always been a really reasonable price. It's popular as well, and to describe it, it's a tea tree toner that works on your skin over 30 days. It's got natural tea tree extract which helps exfoliate to bring out that healthier, shinier looking, brightening skin.
The effect of this toner is that it sweeps away any stubborn skin cells, shrinks the pores and cleans them out, which gives you that smoother looking complexion and brightening effect.
Who the Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA toner is good for
This is suitable for all skin types. It claims to remove those dead skin cells off the top layer of the skin, along with any impurities, oils and dirt, and it doesn't irritate the skin. Some By Mi is one of those Korean skincare brands that's built a cult following for exactly this kind of gentle, multi-tasking formula.
Is the Some By Mi toner right for sensitive or dry skin?
It's got a pH of 5.5, which is similar to the pH level of skin, and that's why it's not supposed to be great for sensitive skin, because it is somewhat acidic. If you sit more on the sensitive or dry skin side, patch test first and don't rush into daily use.
How to use the Some By Mi Miracle Toner
People like to use it daily. I'm not sure I would use it daily, just because I use other exfoliants as well in my skincare routine, it depends on what else you're working with.
- Use it after you've cleansed, or after you've had a shower
- Get a cotton pad, dab a few drops on there
- Sweep it gently around your face in circular motions to help it absorb
- If you look at the pad, you'll see the dirt that's come off
- Leave it for one to three minutes, then wipe it off gently
I think a lot of people forget to wipe this off and leave it on the skin, which can create irritation and more oiliness. It's a bit like a soap for the skin.
Texture and feel of the Some By Mi exfoliating toner
Once you've wiped it away, your skin feels clean, almost squeaky, without that tight, stripped feeling some toners leave behind.
The unexpected uses for this miracle toner
People use this for their face, but I use this for my armpits and more besides.
Underarms
I put a bit on a cotton pad and sweep it under my armpits, and it gets rid of armpit odour. You'll notice some oils and dirt debris on the pad, because it really exfoliates those dead skin cells sitting under your armpit that cause bacteria and smells.
Underneath the bust
Another place I like to use it is underneath the bust, especially if you've got larger breasts, it gets sweaty under there. Over time, wearing bras, it accumulates debris, sweat, dead skin cells and build-up, so a swipe under there is really great for cleaning and exfoliating.
After sun cream or heavy makeup
This Miracle toner is also awesome for after beach holidays and sun cream. As much as you use your cleanser, you'll notice that if you use this after a cleanser, after you've had sun cream on for the day or the week.
I'm talking heavy sun cream, like beach-day sun cream, not your everyday SPF - this will pick up the sun cream residue that's still in the skin even after you've cleansed. It's quite satisfying to feel like you've got that all off, give it a wipe off and proceed to your summer skincare routine.
What's inside the Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA toner
Some of the ingredients: tea tree leaf water, niacinamide, fruit extract, seed extract, some flower extract, citric acid, fructan - there's a whole lot of things in here.
The tea tree extract is doing a lot of the heavy lifting, and tea tree oil is well known for its antibacterial properties, part of why this works well on areas prone to odour and breakouts.
Final verdict on the Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner
If anything, I'd buy this for swiping off armpit odours, or giving the skin that final exfoliation after you've used a cleanser and you've had heavy sun cream or makeup on. It's affordable, it's been a cult favourite for a reason, and it earns its place as a multi-tasker rather than another toner.
It's not one I'd reach for daily skincare use if you're already using other acids in your routine, but a few times a week it's a solid addition, especially if you want that brightening, pore-cleaning effect without a heavy price tag.
