I'm reviewing the The Ordinary Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm and honestly this has been getting a lot of attention since it launched. We keep seeing it everywhere so we just had to try it ourselves. This new launch from The Ordinary is a multi-use moisturising balm designed to hydrate the lips, elbows and cuticles. It is priced around £8.50 for 15ml which makes it great value.
It is designed to soften, nourish and boost moisture within the lips. It uses squalane to provide immediate long-lasting hydration and skin barrier support. It also features a unique blend of amino acids to help retain and seal in moisture. Overall it softens and smooths the skin and can be used on any areas of dryness. Definitely a hydrating lip balm.

They have been really clever with the packaging because even if you do not need another lip balm you will probably want this one for the super cute squeezy O-shaped tube. It is the most fun packaging we have seen from The Ordinary as they normally go for something more clinical. It is the perfect shape and size to pop into your handbag or pocket for use on the go.

In terms of how to get started with it and where to use it it is simple. You can use it on your lips throughout the day or on elbows, cuticles and any dry patches.
Step one: use it day or night whenever your lips or skin feel dry. Step two: squeeze a small amount from the cute tube. Step three: apply gently to your lips or targeted dry areas. Step four: reapply as often as needed because the light texture makes it addictive.
It works really well as part of your everyday routine and layers nicely under lipstick if you want a bit of extra slip.
This is such an easy product to like because the formula is really light and not at all sticky or greasy. The squalane gives it a pleasant slip and slide plus a lovely natural looking sheen on the lips.
The amino acids help with longer lasting hydration while the overall texture feels more watery than heavy balms. It has a really addictive feel so you will want to keep reapplying it. Because it is so light we find ourselves reaching for it more often than thicker options but at this price you can go wild with it.
Down to how great it is or not and honestly it has such an amazing feel on the lips. It softens and smooths really well and leaves a nice hydrated glow without any heaviness.
We like that it is multi-use so we can use the same tube on lips, cuticles and dry elbows. It is perfect for daytime because it is non-sticky and disappears nicely into the skin. If you have dry flaky lips or just want something simple and effective this one delivers.
